AKTIVA Celebrates 20 Years of Technology Integration in Guatemala and El Salvador
In 2026, AKTIVA celebrates 20 years of evolution in technology integration. The story began in Guatemala City in 2006, with an initial focus on the residential market. Since then, the company has expanded its experience into corporate, commercial, institutional and real estate projects, building a trajectory around integrating technology with judgment and with the people who live in and use each space in mind.
From residential automation to an integrated vision
AKTIVA’s growth has been defined by constant evolution. In 2008, the company expanded into corporate and commercial spaces. In 2012, it continued growing into sectors such as banking, education, hospitality and institutional projects. By 2014, AKTIVA was already participating in residential, corporate and mixed-use real estate developments, integrating technology from the early stages of each project.
This journey has helped consolidate a vision in which smart home technology, building automation, audiovisual systems, connectivity, security, lighting and comfort operate as part of one integrated technology ecosystem.
20 years of regional growth
Over these two decades, AKTIVA has developed projects across different markets in the region and beyond. In 2016, its international expansion included projects in Panama, the United States, El Salvador and Mexico. In 2023, the company opened operations in El Salvador, strengthening an operating structure in Guatemala and El Salvador.
Today, AKTIVA has implemented more than 1,500 projects, works with more than 120 specialists and manages more than 50 maintenance contracts. These figures reflect the evolution of an organization that has grown alongside the technology needs of homes, businesses and real estate developments.
Four divisions, one shared vision
AKTIVA’s current operation is organized into four specialized divisions:
- B2B · Commercial & Corporate: technology designed to make business and organizational operations more efficient.
- B2C · Residential: solutions that simplify the way people live and interact with their spaces.
- B2D · Real Estate Development: technology integration from the conception of real estate projects.
- S&M · Support & Maintenance: ongoing support to help technology continue performing over time.
This structure makes it possible to approach each project from different needs while maintaining one shared focus: designing and integrating technology to transform the way people live, work and enjoy spaces.
A history recognized by the industry
AKTIVA’s trajectory has also been recognized by different brands and industry institutions. These milestones include Lutron recognitions ranging from Gold Award to Diamond Award, as well as the CEDIA Smart Home Awards.
In 2024, AKTIVA was recognized at the CEDIA Smart Home Awards with Best Home Cinema and Excellence in Lighting. In 2025, it received Best Integrated Home, and in 2026 it was named a CEDIA Smart Home Awards finalist.
AKTIVA’s evolution has also included the integration of new capabilities into its ecosystem. VALTEK joined in 2018, while CYGNUM and CYGNUM Mantenimiento were integrated in 2025.
More human technology
After 20 years, AKTIVA’s purpose continues to be summarized in one idea: More human technology.
Technology is constantly changing, but its real value appears when it responds to the purpose of a project and improves people’s experience. That is why AKTIVA’s work is not simply about adding systems, but about understanding which technology is worth integrating, when it makes sense and how to make it perform over time.
Twenty years after its founding, AKTIVA continues learning, integrating and evolving from Guatemala and El Salvador, with its sights set on the future of spaces and the people who make them their own.
